Key Features of the Solax "FeaturePlus" System
Three MPP trackers for flexible PV configuration – The inverter has 3 independent MPP controllers. This allows even complex roof layouts with up to three differently oriented module strings to be operated optimally, without yield losses from partial shading or different tilt angles. SolaX already uses three trackers from the 8 kW class upward, offering high flexibility even for medium-sized systems.
Integrated backup power function (EPS) – In the event of a grid outage, the inverter takes over supply to critical loads within < 10 ms (UPS quality) via a separate emergency power output. This backup power function is integrated as standard and ensures an uninterrupted power supply in the home. For complete off-grid operation or synchronising multiple units in backup mode, an EPS box is available as an option.
Two independent battery connections – The X3-Hybrid G4 PRO has two separate high-voltage battery connections. This allows two battery packs to be connected at the same time, to increase storage capacity or to operate different battery systems in parallel. This enables a flexible, scalable storage solution – ideal if the system needs to grow along with increasing requirements.
200% PV power usable for battery charging – The PV system can be sized up to twice the inverter's rated power. This oversizing option makes it possible, for example, to connect approx. 20 kWp of PV to the 10 kW inverter. Surplus solar power is then used specifically to charge the battery faster (the AC output power to the grid remains capped at 100%). This means the storage is filled efficiently even in weaker sunlight. (Note: if the storage is full and consumption is low, the surplus PV power is automatically curtailed.)
No curtailment under unbalanced load – The three-phase SolaX inverter can deliver its full power even asymmetrically, i.e. up to 10 kW on a single phase if required, without throttling prematurely. There is no power limitation for uneven load distribution. This is particularly advantageous for single-phase loads with high power demand, such as heat pumps, EV chargers or workshop machinery – even if these are connected to only one phase, the full PV/storage power is available.
Parallel connection of up to 10 units – For larger projects, the system can be expanded with multiple SolaX inverters. Up to 10 units can be operated in parallel to increase overall output accordingly or to supply buildings with higher energy demand. Up to 3 units are synchronised directly; for 4–10 units connected in parallel, an additional parallel/EPS control box ensures coordinated operation (including shared backup power supply).
Outdoor-installable inverter and storage – Both the SolaX X3-Hybrid inverter (protection rating IP66) and the associated T-BAT SYS HS (IP65) are weatherproof and suitable for outdoor mounting. Thanks to integrated battery management with a heating function, the storage also works reliably at low temperatures. Installation on a protected outside wall or in a carport is easily possible – ideal when there is little space in the utility room.
Very low start-up voltage – With a start-up voltage of only around 110 V (MPPT range 110–950 V), energy generation begins even at low morning sunlight levels. The ultra-wide input voltage range keeps the inverter active in the optimal range even in difficult weather. The result: longer daily operating times and higher yields, even during transitional seasons or in diffuse light.
Energy manager – The Consolinno energy manager connects SolaX devices with third-party manufacturers and smart home systems. It enables complex automations for PV surplus, heating or dynamic electricity tariffs. Perfect for users who want maximum flexibility and control.
Intelligent Energy Management
Remote configuration and monitoring – Around 85% of all settings and parameters can be conveniently configured remotely. Via the SolaX Cloud and corresponding apps, installers or users can make many changes without needing to be on site. Firmware updates and troubleshooting are also handled largely remotely. The system also offers extensive live monitoring functions for production, consumption and the storage's state of charge.
Dynamic tariffs and storage control – The energy management allows manual entry of time-dependent electricity tariffs (e.g. variable tariffs from providers such as Tibber). Based on this, the storage can be automatically controlled to charge preferably during low-tariff periods and discharge during high electricity prices. This allows the system to adapt to variable electricity price models and helps reduce energy costs.
Control of heat pumps – Heat pumps or other loads can be specifically controlled with the energy manager via Modbus to use surplus solar power for heat generation. For example, the hot water tank is heated when a lot of PV power is available around midday, instead of feeding the electricity into the grid.
EV charging integration – The SolaX complete system is prepared for integrating a SolaX EV Charger wallbox. A compatible electric vehicle can thus be charged with surplus solar power, controlled by the energy management. The wallbox communicates with the inverter to, for example, use only solar power in surplus charging mode or to charge depending on the state of charge and electricity tariff. This maximises self-consumption and makes e-mobility even more economical.
Optional Accessories
X3-EPS Box: The EPS box automatically supplies three-phase backup power to your entire house in the event of a power outage. Without it, your inverter shuts down when the grid fails. The box safely disconnects from the grid and supplies your house directly from PV and battery. Unlike the Matebox, it must be fully wired on site and does not include an integrated smart meter – ideal for installations where flexibility during setup is required.
X3-Matebox Advanced: Same function as the X3-EPS Box. Unlike the EPS Box, however, the Matebox is fully pre-wired and already includes an integrated smart meter – saving installation time and ensuring particularly clean system integration.
SolaX EV Charger (wallbox): The SolaX wallbox charges your electric vehicle directly with surplus PV power. Fully integrated into the SolaX system, no additional devices required. Various charging modes available: surplus charging, eco or fast charging. Simple, practical and especially convenient.
DC and AC surge protection: To protect against lightning strikes and overvoltage, a standard-compliant surge protection device in accordance with VDE 0100-712 is recommended – on both the DC and AC side. In most cases this is even mandatory. Ideal for new builds and retrofits – compact, effective and standard-compliant.
