my-PV DC ELWA

Use solar power directly for hot water production

ELWA is a 2 kW photovoltaic hot water heating device. Direct current from photovoltaic modules is transferred directly into the built-in heating element and converted immediately and without loss into heat. The built-in MPP tracker ensures that the PV generator is always operated at its optimal operating point (similar to a PV inverter). No connection to the power grid is required for operation, since the device is powered directly by the PV generator (pure off-grid operation). The desired hot water temperature is set using a rotary knob, and LED indicators show the current device status.

Always hot water, even when the weather doesn't cooperate

Thanks to the patented hot water backup function, hot water supply can be guaranteed even in bad weather. This makes it possible to switch off the conventional heating system completely in summer, which extends the service life of the heating system.

To activate the hot water backup function, the ELWA simply needs to be plugged into a wall socket. In this mode there is no grid feed-in, so no metering point is required, unlike a grid-connected PV system.

Your advantages

? Simpler and cheaper than thermal solar systems
? No permits required
You avoid tedious dealings with authorities, since ELWA does not feed any electricity into the grid. In residential construction in particular, the permitting process for grid-connected PV systems can take several months.
? Simplest installation thanks to "cables instead of pipes", contains less valuable copper, virtually no maintenance costs.
? Layered charging possible with 2 units.
? Also works during a power outage
? Hot water backup function usable as an option
? No frost protection needed
? Cables have almost no energy losses compared to pipework

Accessories

Data analysis with USB interface

ELWA has an integrated data logger. Using the USB interface and the free ELWA software, you can check your solar yields at any time, for example also seeing the temperature rise achieved in your hot water. In addition, device settings can be easily adjusted to suit your individual needs.

Remote monitoring with Modbus interface

For cases where several devices need to be controlled and monitored from a central location, my-PV has developed a suitable Modbus interface. This solution is especially well suited to residential construction. It can also be used to integrate an additional temperature sensor into the control system.
