Initial SOC on commissioning
New HVS/HVM modules always have a state of charge of approx. 30% on delivery. However, when commissioning a new storage system, the BCU usually displays an incorrect state of charge at the beginning (usually 50%/30%/0%). However, this is only to be understood as a placeholder value. During a new installation, the BCU simply does not yet know what the charge status of the modules is. As soon as the memory starts to charge, the SOC detection is corrected step by step. The SOC calibration is completed at the latest after a full cycle (charge to 100% and subsequent discharge to max. discharge depth).
SOC jumps
The state of charge of an LFP battery cannot be measured. It is a calculated value. In general, the state of charge of a battery is calculated via the voltage, but other factors such as temperature, current flow and charging behavior also play a role. The calculation of the state of charge is generally more accurate if the battery regularly sees full cycles. Again & in very clear terms: The SOC is only calculated approximately and can deviate from the real value by several percentage points. Corrections occur from time to time. This is normal.
