PVPB SI 10-1 SL Power Booster
Photovoltaic systems are affected by falling yields in the first days / weeks of operation. This reduction in yield occurs due to light-induced degradation (LID). In addition, the module performance can continue to decrease by up to 1% per year due to various aging processes.
Both effects are taken into account in the module manufacturer's performance guarantees and the project planners' yield calculations.
Unfortunately, these degradations are not the only causes for the reduction in the performance of photovoltaic system photovoltaic modules. Another undesirable effect is the Potential Induced Degradation (PID) / High Voltage Stress (HVS), which can significantly impair the module performance and thus the system performance.
If no performance measurements take place during the annual maintenance of a PV system, the PID degradation is usually not noticed up to a degradation of 5%, in older systems even above.
Since the PID / HVS degradation is reversible, the affected photovoltaic modules can be regenerated with the PV Power Booster and thus an increase in yield in the PV system can be achieved.
Technology PVPB SI 10-1 SL
As soon as the PV voltage falls below the set switch-on threshold after sunset, the PV Power Booster sets the modules of the entire PV system to a high positive potential to earth.
The resulting PID / HVS degradation during operation is reversed in this way.
Advantages of the power booster:
- Connect the PV + and PV- of the Power Booster to a free DC input of the inverter. (pre-assembled cables with MC4 or Sunclix)
- Connection of the existing grounding cable to the equipotential bonding rail (or another grounding point, e.g. to the rack system)
- Connect the power supply to a socket with the supplied cable.
- As further options, for the installation of the Power Booster, a Y-connector can be helpful if there is no free DC connection on the inverter, as well as DC cables in Sunclix)
Note: The lowest output voltage of the PVPB SI 10-1 SL is 600V between earth and PV (-).
Inverters from Fronius, Kaco (older models), Kostal allow a maximum of 500V between PV (-) and earth, even if the maximum DC voltage of the inverter is specified as 1000V.
The Mini Power Booster PVPB SI 5-1 is suitable for these inverter models.
Inverters from SMA, ABB / Power-One, Delta, Sungrow, Huawei can easily be operated with the PVPB SI 10-1 SL Power Booster.
If you have another inverter manufacturer, then the PVPB SI 5-1 is intended for this.
